Police departments in Metro Detroit’s Troy and Allen Park have warned residents about a cyberattack on the OnSolve CodeRed emergency notification system. The service, used to send urgent messages to registered cell phone users, has been targeted by hackers.
Although there’s no indication that breach data is online yet, police are urging users to change passwords immediately for any other accounts that use the same login. This is a precautionary measure to protect personal identifying information.
The Troy police department is advising CodeRED users to monitor their accounts closely. Meanwhile, Allen Park police acknowledge rising cybersecurity threats and encourage users to be vigilant about potential data breaches.
