Cyndi Lauper Elected to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2025 Class

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its seven new inductees for 2025, including a female solo musician who has made a lasting impact on the music industry. Cyndi Lauper is among those recognized for her contributions to rock music.

The inductees were selected from a list of 14 nominees and feature a more traditional rock lineup, with one notable exception: Atlanta hip-hop innovators Outkast are not included. The new class includes Phish, Billy Idol, ManĂ¡, Mariah Carey, Oasis, Joy Division/New Order, and Cyndi Lauper.

While some notable artists, such as The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, and Oasis, did not make the cut this year, they will be eligible again in future years. Other artists who have been nominated but not inducted include Billy Idol and Oasis in 2024 and Joy Division/New Order in 2023.

The fan-voted Phish won almost 330,000 votes, exceeding the next highest voter, Bad Company. However, winning the fan vote does not guarantee induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The top seven winners of the fan vote will be honored with a plaque during the induction ceremony.

Other notable awards include the Musical Influence Award for Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon, and the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lenny Waronker. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is comprised of over 1,200 voting members, including artists, historians, and music industry professionals.
