Focus Features has announced that Daisy Edgar-Jones will star in a remake of Jane Austen’s classic novel “Sense and Sensibility”. Edgar-Jones, known for her roles in “Normal People” and “Where the Crawdads Sing”, will play the role of Elinor Dashwood.
The film is being directed by Georgia Oakley (“Blue Jean”) and adapted by Diana Reid. The production team includes Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films, India Flint of November Pictures, and Jo Wallett.
This remake marks Focus Features’ second Austen adaptation in recent years, following the 2020 release of “Emma” starring Anya-Taylor Joy. The original novel, published in 1811, follows sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood as they navigate love, loss, and financial uncertainty after being forced to leave their family estate.
Edgar-Jones shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo of herself with a copy of the novel.
