Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will miss at least one game due to a hamstring injury that is being evaluated by the team. Coach Mike McCarthy ruled him out for Sunday’s home game against Philadelphia, and multiple reports suggest he may be sidelined for multiple games.
The injury occurred in the second half of the Cowboys’ 27-21 loss at Atlanta. Prescott noticed something was wrong with his hamstring during a scramble and felt pain on a throw. He did not play in the fourth quarter, and Cooper Rush replaced him against the Falcons.
Despite Prescott’s absence, McCarthy believes that this setback is an opportunity for the quarterback room to come together. “It really doesn’t change anything with us,” he said. “This is about the quarterback room… So now it’s Cooper’s turn, and Dak will be part of that process.”
Cooper Rush, who was 4-1 as a starter two years ago, will likely start against the Eagles. The Cowboys are already three games behind Washington and Philadelphia in the NFC East, and this loss could further exacerbate their struggles.
The team is on its first three-game losing streak since 2020, and Prescott’s injury adds to the mounting pressure. McCarthy indicated that there were no immediate plans to evaluate Trey Lance, who was traded to the Cowboys last year, but it remains unclear how this might impact the team’s depth at quarterback.
