Milwaukee Bucks star guard Damian Lillard will reportedly return from deep vein thrombosis in his right calf for Game 2 of their playoff series against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night, according to ESPN. The team had initially put Lillard’s return in doubt due to the severity of his injury.
Lillard was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis roughly a week after a March 18 contest and underwent treatment with blood-thinning medication. He made significant progress and was cleared to resume play, sparking hope among Bucks fans.
The return of Lillard should provide a boost to Milwaukee’s playoff chances. In the regular season, he averaged 24.9 points and 7.1 assists per game before suffering the injury. With Lillard back in action, big man Giannis Antetokounmpo may face less pressure, allowing the Bucks to mount a comeback against the Pacers.
The series is currently 1-0 in favor of Indiana, but with Lillard’s return, Milwaukee may have a better chance at evening the series and making a surprising postseason run.
