Dan Trachtenberg Returns to Paramount with Original Projects

Dan Trachtenberg is back at Paramount, the studio behind his critically acclaimed Cloverfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane films, with a new deal that includes developing original projects and revisiting the Predator franchise he helped revive. The director’s return marks a significant shift in the franchise’s fortunes, following the underwhelming success of Shane Black’s 2018 reboot.

Trachtenberg, who directed the successful animated spin-off Predator: Killer of Killers, has expressed interest in remaining with the Predator franchise while also working on original projects at Paramount. His new deal comes as the studio is undergoing a change in ownership and leadership. The director’s involvement has helped revitalize the franchise, which began in the 1980s with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The latest installments, Prey and Predator: Badlands, have received widespread critical acclaim and commercial success on Disney+. Prey, set in the 18th century, features Amber Midthunder and boasts a “Certified Fresh” 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The animated spin-off Predator: Killer of Killers has also been well-received by audiences.

Trachtenberg’s return to Paramount marks an exciting new chapter for the franchise, with fans eagerly awaiting his next move. Stay tuned to Collider for further updates on this developing story.
