Darden Restaurants to Sell or Convert Bahama Breeze Chain

Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse, is considering selling or converting its Caribbean restaurant chain, Bahama Breeze. The decision comes after the company closed 15 locations in late May, reducing the number of restaurants from 43 to 28. According to CEO Rick Cardenas, Bahama Breeze “are not a strategic priority” for the company and have the potential to benefit from a new owner. The brand’s sales have not met Darden’s expectations, leading the company to reassess its investment in the chain. With Darden projected to see 7-8% growth in total sales for fiscal 2026, the sale or conversion of Bahama Breeze could provide an opportunity for a new investor to capitalize on the brand’s potential.
