The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) marked the birth of the United States with a special ceremony at the Veterans Historical Plaza on Monday morning. The event honored men and women who fought or contributed to the American Revolution, as well as veterans who served.
The ceremony featured patriotic music, flag-dressing performances by four historical reenactors, and flags blowing in the wind. It also included presentations to individuals for their efforts within the organization, such as singing the national anthem.
With 9,600 members across 116 chapters and 15 districts, the DAR devotes around 450,000 volunteer hours annually, donating $500,000 to veterans through various service projects. Christina Ramos, California state regent, emphasized the importance of educating the public about the sacrifices made by military personnel and veterans.
The event coincides with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States’ founding on July 4, 2026. The DAR aims to promote awareness of patriotism and honor its legacy through this commemoration, reflecting on the sacrifices made during the Revolutionary era (1775-1783).
