DC Comics is launching a new limited series, DC K.O., which pits 36 heroes against each other in a cosmic tournament to save the universe from Darkseid. The five-issue series, co-created by Joshua Williamson and Scott Snyder, kicks off in October with Superman, Firestorm, Plastic Man, Power Girl, Vixen, and Black Lightning among the competitors.
The story takes place in a “universe-shaking” gladiatorial arena that emerges from the Earth itself, testing heroes in brutal ways. The goal is to generate enough Omega Energy to rival Darkseid and crown a new King Omega. Snyder promises an unexpected twist, stating that DC K.O. is a “very personal story wrapped in nine layers of candy exploding in your face.”
The series will be followed by the one-shot Justice League: The Omega Act #1, which will lead into the main event. Some DC series, like Williamson’s Superman #31, will tie in to DC K.O., making it a line-wide event.
A tournament featuring DC heroes in a Mortal Kombat-like setting is set to begin fall 2026, with DC K.O. as the flagship series.
