A blockbuster trade shook the NBA market on Friday, sending shockwaves throughout the league and impacting fantasy basketball prospects. De’Aaron Fox has been traded from the Bulls to the Spurs in a multiteam deal that also includes Zach LaVine going to the Kings and the Bulls acquiring several role players.
Fox’s arrival in San Antonio brings Chris Paul into the backup point guard slot, with Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell starting on the wing. Although Fox played with more talented scoring wings in Sacramento, his fantasy outlook remains unchanged. He is a higher-usage point guard and volume scorer, which could benefit Wembanyama but may also impact Castle and Vassell’s scoring opportunities.
Fox currently ranks 19th in NBA fantasy points per game and remains a top-20 player in San Antonio. Meanwhile, LaVine rejoins former running mate DeMar DeRozan on the wing in Sacramento, with Malik Monk taking over as the starting point guard. LaVine’s new role may lead to increased usage and scoring opportunities.
Monk is poised for a significant increase in production after Fox’s departure, with potential to average 20.0 PPG and 7.0 APG in the last month. The Kings also retain DeRozan, Sabonis, and Keegan Murray, who all maintain similar expected value as before the trade.
In Chicago, Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu emerge as fantasy winners after the deal, with White projecting as a top-50 prospect and Dosunmu on the fringe of the top 100.
