The lineup for the 2025 MusiCares Person of the Year benefit gala, honoring the legacy of the Grateful Dead, has been revealed. The event, set to take place on January 31 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, will feature a star-studded lineup including Dead & Company, John Mayer, Mick Fleetwood with Stewart Copeland, Norah Jones, and many more.
Original Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, and Bob Weir will be recognized for their contributions to music, philanthropy, and the group’s pioneering role in fostering communities through their concerts and activism. The late Jerry Garcia and Phil Lesh will also receive posthumous honors.
This year’s gala marks the third time a band has been awarded the MusiCares Person of the Year title, following Fleetwood Mac (2018) and Aerosmith (2020). Past honorees include Jon Bon Jovi, Dolly Parton, Tom Petty, and more. The event will continue as planned despite recent wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
MusiCares will use the proceeds from the gala to support their health and human services programs, which provide essential services such as physical and mental health care, addiction recovery, and disaster relief to music professionals. A special appeal for donations to support wildfire relief efforts has been made.
