Deadly Chocolate Recall Hits US Market

A US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recall of Cal Yee Farms chocolate products has been upgraded to a Class 1 level, indicating a high risk of serious health consequences or death. The recalled products contain undeclared milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6, and almonds, posing a significant threat to individuals with dairy allergies.

The affected products include dark chocolate almonds, dark chocolate apricots, and dark chocolate walnuts, all potentially contaminated with milk. A total of nine states have been identified as having sold the recalled products: Arizona, California, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. The products were also available online.

To determine if you have a recalled product, check for the following information on the label: Cal Yee or Cal Yee Farm branded products packaged in clear plastic zippered pouches with bright yellow labels featuring a UPC code. If you suspect you have one of these products, return it for a full refund or dispose of it entirely.

As of now, no illnesses have been reported in relation to the contamination. However, consumers with milk allergies or sensitivities should exercise caution and avoid consuming the affected products altogether. For further information or concerns, contact the FDA at (707) 425-5327 or [email protected] from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PST, Monday through Friday.
