DeepCool, a cooling products manufacturer sanctioned in June for selling products to Russian companies supporting the war against Ukraine, has penalized its Chinese distributor for selling its products under a different name on Amazon. The company claims that the action was not authorized and violates their contract.
The issue came to light when YouTuber Greg Salazar discovered that an Amazon seller called “Shaking Tank” was selling DeepCool products with lightly blurred logos, as well as products from competing companies like Cooler Master. Further investigation revealed that several other Amazon storefronts were also using this tactic to sell banned inventory.
DeepCool has taken swift action against the distributor, ordering them to remove the company’s products from their overseas sales platform and imposing penalties for violating the contract. The representative stated that the distributor “violated our contract” and is being penalized.
The removal of the DeepCool products from the Shaking Tank page on Amazon confirms the company’s claims that they were not involved in the rebranding of their products. It also suggests that the small profit made by selling a few coolers would not be worth the potential fallout in countries where its products are still available or jeopardizing its hopes to re-enter the US market.
With this incident settled, it seems unlikely that DeepCool will face further repercussions for allegedly renaming itself to sell competitors’ products.
