Deion Sanders Feels Well, Return to Colorado Campus Unclear

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders has been dealing with an unspecified health issue while on his estate in Texas. The university’s summer camps got underway last week in Boulder, and Sanders appeared at the 2023 and 2024 camps. However, it’s unclear when he will return to campus.

Sanders’ eldest son, Deion Jr., said his father is “feeling well” after being diagnosed with an unspecified issue. He won’t say what the problem is but expects to be back in Boulder once his dad leaves their estate in Texas. The 57-year-old coach has been away from the media spotlight since the NFL draft in April, citing a health issue.

Sanders’ recent health issues include blood clots in his legs and an amputation of two toes due to complications related to sickle cell disease. He was accompanied by CU athletic trainer Lauren Askevold during his stay in Texas.

The university is set to host several football camps this week, including one for high school players and a women’s clinic. Sanders’ team opens the season on August 29 against Georgia Tech.
