Deion Sanders, current head coach at Colorado, has expressed a “very strong interest” in becoming the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, according to a report by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. This comes as the franchise is searching for a new leader after parting ways with Antonio Pierce.
Sanders previously stated he had no intention of coaching in the NFL following his second season at Colorado, where he oversaw a significant turnaround, improving the team’s record from 4-8 to 9-4 in 2024. His sons, Shedeur and Shilo, have been key players under his leadership, with Shedeur poised to enter the NFL as a top quarterback prospect.
A person close to Sanders told Vincent Bonsignore of the Review-Journal that Coach Prime is indeed interested in the Raiders job. Minority owner Tom Brady is also taking an active role in the hiring process.
Sanders’ coaching stint at Jackson State was successful, with the team going 27-6 over three years and making back-to-back appearances in the Celebration Bowl. However, Sanders had denied earlier rumors about his interest in NFL openings, citing a desire to focus on Colorado.
Despite this, he reiterated that he would only consider returning to the league if it meant coaching his sons, Shedeur and Shilo. With Shedeur poised for an NFL career, Sanders’ interest in the Raiders job has become a topic of discussion among football fans.
