Denver Broncos head coach Deion Sanders expressed his emotions ahead of his son Shedeur’s NFL preseason debut, saying it will be “a little weird” to not be able to give advice on the sidelines. Shedeur will start for the Cleveland Browns against the Carolina Panthers on Friday.
Shedeur, who is listed as the QB4 on the depth chart behind Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, has been thrust into the starting role after Pickett’s injury. Deion Sanders coached his son in college, but now he won’t be able to provide guidance.
Despite the challenge, Deion Sanders is confident in Shedeur’s abilities, saying he approaches every situation with preparation and a “can-do” attitude. He has faith that his son will succeed, citing his impressive college stats, including 7,364 passing yards and 64 touchdowns.
However, not everyone shares Deion Sanders’ confidence. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith claimed the Browns are putting Shedeur in a difficult position by starting him with limited practice experience. Smith stated that throwing a player into the starting lineup without first-team reps can be “set up to fail.”
