Delta Air Lines Resumes Nonstop Flights to Delhi, India

Delta Air Lines has confirmed plans to resume nonstop flights between its Atlanta hub and Delhi, marking a significant return to operations in India since 2019. The airline aims to establish this route as one of its longest nonstops, spanning approximately 7,945 miles.

The decision comes as part of Delta’s broader alliance with IndiGo, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic to enhance connectivity between India, Europe, and North America. This strategic partnership is designed to provide seamless global connectivity by leveraging the strengths of each partner airline.

IndiGo will offer its customers access to transatlantic destinations via Amsterdam and Paris, while Delta, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic passengers can connect to 30+ destinations in India through IndiGo’s domestic network. The partnership also includes cooperation on commercial operations, loyalty programs, cargo, aircraft maintenance, sustainability, and digital innovation.

Delta plans to launch the Atlanta-Delhi route with its new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, which boasts fuel efficiency and long-range capabilities. Although the airline initially targeted 2025 for delivery, delays have pushed the timeline back to 2026. The A350-1000’s performance is expected to enable ultra-long-haul flights without payload restrictions.

This expansion marks a renewed commitment by Delta to India’s high-growth market. With this move, passengers can look forward to increased connectivity between North America and India via these partner airlines.
