Delta Airlines Provides Pilot Information Amid Plane Crash Investigation

Delta Air Lines has released limited information about the piloting crew aboard Flight 4819, which crashed at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday. The airline stated that both the captain and first officer are qualified and certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), but declined to release their names due to privacy concerns.

The pilot, who joined Delta in October 2007, has extensive experience with the company, including serving as a duty captain and flight safety expert. He completed his training in April 2024 and has exceeded federal minimum standards for pilots.

The first officer, hired by Delta in January 2024, also met all FAA requirements after completing her flight training. The airline denied allegations of training failures and said the crew was experienced flying in winter conditions.

All 80 passengers and four crew members survived the crash, with most suffering minor injuries. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash, which could be completed within 30 days.
