A Delta Air Lines flight from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam was diverted after experiencing “significant” turbulence, resulting in 25 people being hospitalized. The plane landed safely at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and the passengers, including seven crew members, were taken to the hospital for evaluation and care. All have since been released.
According to eyewitnesses, the turbulence occurred around 45 minutes into the flight and lasted for about 3-5 minutes, causing people to scream and cry. The plane’s safety features were put to the test as glass bottles shattered everywhere, and phone screens flew through the air.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident. Delta Air Lines has assured passengers that all have been released from the hospital and will continue on to Amsterdam on a special flight Thursday evening.
