Delta Flight Diverted Due to Turbulence Lands Safely in Minneapolis

Delta Airlines flight DL56 from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) experienced significant turbulence while en route, forcing the plane to divert to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP). All 275 passengers and 13 crew members on board were safely evacuated.

Twenty-five customers were taken to local hospitals for evaluation and care, but were treated and released by Thursday morning. The remaining passengers were cared for by Delta’s onboard medical team before being reunited with their loved ones at the airport.

Delta is cooperating with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on an investigation into the incident. To accommodate passengers, a special flight from MSP to AMS was operated later that day.

The airline’s priority is passenger safety, and the Delta Care Team worked closely with emergency responders to provide support and assistance during the crisis.
