Delta Passengers Stranded 7 Hours in Alabama Due to Customs Staff Shortage

Delta Air Lines passengers were stuck on the tarmac for seven hours at an airport in Montgomery, Alabama, due to a customs staff shortage. The two flights from Mexico, one heading to Boston, diverted to Montgomery because of bad weather and had to wait until 5am to disembark. Passengers said they had limited amenities and were forced to use police officers as makeshift bathroom attendants.

The flights were originally scheduled to stop in Atlanta before continuing on to Boston. However, Delta officials claimed that lightning in the area led to the prolonged diversion. The airline apologized for the experience and confirmed that it is providing full refunds to affected customers. A passenger described a 25-hour ordeal returning to the US after a Mexican vacation, saying she was exhausted and frustrated with the situation.
