Delta Plane Crashes, Lands Upside-Down in Toronto, No Fatalities Reported

A Delta flight has crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, but all 76 passengers and crew members survived. The plane, which originated from Minneapolis, flipped over onto its back after touching down on the snow-covered runway. At least 18 people were taken to hospitals with injuries, but none are considered life-threatening.

According to Peel Regional Paramedic Services, three people suffered critical injuries – a child, a man in his 60s, and a woman in her 40s – while 12 others had mild injuries. The Toronto Hospital for Sick Children confirmed that the injured child is listed in good condition.

Airport officials and Delta have commended the emergency response efforts, which are attributed to the heroic actions of trained professionals and first responders at the airport.

The cause of the crash is currently unknown but an investigation led by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada has begun. The incident occurred during strong winds and blowing snow, with gusts reaching 40 mph on the ground and even stronger in the air.

Operations at the airport were temporarily halted, with flights resuming as usual after a few hours. Two runways remain closed due to the incident, which may impact operations.
