Delta Plane Evacuated After Engine Fire at Orlando Airport

A Delta flight has been evacuated after an engine caught fire on the tarmac at Orlando International Airport in Florida. The Airbus A330, carrying 282 passengers and crew, was due to depart for Atlanta when flames were seen coming from one of its main engines.

Passengers were quickly evacuated using inflatable emergency slides as airport rescue teams responded promptly to the scene. There are no reports of injuries.

Delta has apologized for the disruption, assuring customers that safety is their top priority and they will work to get them to their destinations as soon as possible. The Federal Aviation Administration has announced it will investigate the incident.

This incident is the latest in a string of high-profile aviation incidents in North America this year, including a fatal crash near Washington DC’s Ronald Reagan airport earlier this month and a Delta plane crash-landing in Toronto last month.
