Actress Denise Richards has accused her estranged husband Aaron Phypers of years of alleged physical and verbal abuse. In a court filing reviewed by USA TODAY, Richards claimed that Phypers threatened to “break my jaw” and cried and begged her to stay in their marriage, but made no effort to seek help.
The temporary restraining order, filed on July 16, states that Richards suffered at least three concussions and claims that Phypers left recording devices in their hotel rooms to capture her without consent. Several photos are attached to the filing, including one showing a black eye inflicted by Phypers.
Richards, who was previously married to Charlie Sheen, has been with Phypers for seven years. The pair are currently going through a divorce after Phypers filed earlier this month. Richards is seeking no contact from Phypers and is demanding the return of stolen electronic devices.
Phypers denied the allegations in a statement on July 17, saying they were “completely false” and claiming that he has always tried to approach their marriage with love and respect. However, Richards claims that Phypers repeatedly threatened to kill himself and her if she reported him to the police.
