Actor Dennis Quaid opened up about the impact of the devastating wildfires on him and his friends in Los Angeles. Stopped by NBC4 Los Angeles near his Brentwood home, Quaid expressed his gratitude for the firefighters and first responders who have been working tirelessly to contain the blazes.
Quaid shared that he and his family have “had it lucky” so far, but many of his friends have lost their homes in the fires. His agent, as well as a friend at Palisades, lost both homes. Quaid emphasized the importance of community coming together to rebuild after the fires are contained.
“Hollywood is a great community when we come together,” he said. “Everybody wants to come here. It’s all of us, we’re all Hollywood.” With thousands of homes and businesses destroyed, first responders continue to fight to save their city. The death toll has risen to 11, with several celebrities taking to social media to share the devastation left behind in their communities.
As of Saturday evening, the containment rates for some of the active wildfires were as follows: the Kenneth Fire was 90 percent contained, while the Palisades Fire near the coastline was 11 percent contained. The Eaton Fire was 15 percent contained, and the Hurst Fire was 76 percent contained.
