Denny Hamlin led a trio of Toyotas to victory in Saturday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville, earning his first win of the 2025 season and 55th career win. Hamlin drove the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing car, supported by new sponsor Progressive Insurance.
Hamlin dominated the race, leading over half the field (274 out of 400 laps) in the final stages. He praised his crew chief Chris Gayle and pit crew for their “amazing” approach, which paid off with a six-race win streak at Martinsville.
The race was marked by several restarts, including a caution after Shane van Gisbergen lost a wheel, trapping defending champion William Byron a lap down. However, Hamlin’s lead remained intact, and he crossed the finish line ahead of teammate Christopher Bell and Bubba Wallace in a 1-2-3 Toyota finish.
Bell expressed disappointment with his runner-up finish but praised his team for executing well. The top five drivers were Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson from Hendrick Motorsports. Austin Cindric’s No. 2 Team Penske Ford was the only car to fail to finish, struggling with battery issues throughout the day.
