Denver International Airport Unveils New Security Checkpoint

Denver International Airport (DEN) has opened a sleek new security checkpoint, mirroring its successful West checkpoint that debuted last year. The East Security Checkpoint on the north end of the upper level features 17 state-of-the-art screening lanes designed to move passengers quickly and alleviate wait times in serpentine lines.

The checkpoint’s opening marks the final major security shift of the terminal renovation project, which aims to make DEN one of the easiest airports in the world. The new screening area is expected to improve the efficiency of the airport’s screening process, increasing customer satisfaction survey results.

The East checkpoint will handle PreCheck and Clear members, as well as offer relief during peak periods for passengers using SouthPreCheck lanes. It will also feature a newly reopened A-Bridge walkway between the terminal and Concourse A, allowing travelers to walk on foot after passing through security.

The new checkpoint’s advanced technology includes facial recognition scanning and automated bag-checking systems, which eliminate the need for manual inspection of carry-on bags and laptops. The TSA has confirmed that federal policies allow for these changes, reducing wait times for travelers.

DEN is set to accommodate 100 million annual passengers in the next few years, with plans to surpass 120 million by 2045. The improved security checkpoints are designed to meet this growing demand, with additional lanes planned for international and domestic passengers.
