Denzel Washington has reflected on his past acting jobs in an interview with CNN. The actor stars as a music mogul caught in a ransom plot in Spike Lee’s latest film, “Highest 2 Lowest”. Washington discussed how he made financial decisions to support his family during the mid-1990s. He also shared his thoughts on the film’s themes, including the impact of technology on art and commerce.
Washington’s character, David King, is a record executive who must weigh the benefits of paying a ransom for his son or allowing him to be taken by another man. The film reimagines Akira Kurosawa’s classic “High To Low” with many key elements remaining. Washington has collaborated with Lee on several films in the past, including “He Got Game”, “Malcolm X”, and their latest collaboration.
The actor also shared his thoughts on social media, stating that he doesn’t rely on it for happiness or peace. He expressed concerns about its impact on society, but doesn’t feel personally affected by it. Washington’s approach to fame is centered around his work as an artist, rather than seeking personal recognition.
“Highest 2 Lowest” will be released in US cinemas on August 15 and will debut on Apple TV+ after A24 distributes theatrically.
