The Detroit Auto Show has finally arrived, offering a plethora of exciting experiences for car enthusiasts. The show kicked off on Friday, Jan. 10, with a media day and charity preview, and will officially open to the general public on Jan. 11 at Huntington Place in downtown Detroit.
Here are five key takeaways from the first day:
The show has returned to January after two September runs in recent years. Officials hope this change will boost attendance for both visitors and automakers. The auto show will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 11-14 and Jan. 17-19, with some exceptions.
Test drive cars across four immersive experiences. The Detroit Auto Show features various tracks where attendees can ride along in different vehicles. These include Camp Jeep, Bronco Built Wild Experience, Powering Michigan EV Experience, and the new Detroit Grand Prix Track.
Ford Motor Company is showcasing its limited-edition Detroit Lions-themed F-150, as well as other models like the Mustang GTD Spirit of America and factory-customized Mustang RTR. Over 160 trucks are available for purchase or lease from participating dealers.
Concept vehicles will also be on display, including Cadillac’s Opulent Velocity concept, Buick’s Wildcat EV, and Chrysler’s Halcyon. The Detroit Auto Show is featuring over 50 ultra-luxury and exotic vehicles from 12 brands, curated from Metro Detroit dealerships and owner enthusiast collections.
