DFW Airport has introduced Enhanced Passenger Processing (EPP), a touchless security system aiming to streamline international arrivals. The system, one of 11 state-of-the-art airports in the US, has reduced wait times by 25% for U.S. citizens.
The technology uses outward-facing tablets to capture passenger photos and verify biometric data. Eligible passengers can proceed without showing their passport, while others are directed to an officer for further questioning. The airport invested over $32 million in integrating the system, which is crucial for its projected 7 million annual passengers by 2030.
According to CBP Executive Assistant Commissioner Diane Sabatino, “Technology must become a driving force in both security and customer experience.” DFW Airport CEO Chris McLaughlin agrees, stating that modernization is key. The new system allows for efficient and secure processing, making it an essential upgrade for the airport’s international terminal.
