DFW Drivers Invited to Rewards Program for TEXpress Lane Travel

North Central Texas Council of Governments has launched a new pilot program that rewards drivers who use the TEXpress lane network to travel during off-peak hours or take less-congested routes. The GoCarma app, which offers high-occupancy vehicle discounts, is being used to track driving patterns and encourage users to make changes.

The program aims to reduce congestion in the region by giving drivers incentives to choose alternative commutes. Participants will earn points for tweaking their driving habits, filling out surveys about their commute, and taking less congested routes. The top winners can receive $2,500 gift cards.

NCTCOG senior program manager Natalie Bettger says the goal is to give drivers information to make choices that reduce congestion on roadways. The data collected will help inform future efforts to ease gridlock in the growing region. The pilot program ends December 25 and can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
