Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z have had a lawsuit against them withdrawn after a woman who alleged they sexually assaulted her 25 years ago dropped the case. The woman, Jane Doe, filed a notice of voluntary dismissal with prejudice in February, meaning she can’t re-file the lawsuit.
The lawsuit was initially filed against Combs in October last year and accused him of drugging and raping the woman at an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000, when she was 13. Jay-Z was added as a defendant later, with Doe accusing him of rape.
Jay-Z’s attorneys had tried to get the case thrown out multiple times due to inconsistencies in Doe’s allegations. A judge even granted her permission to proceed anonymously after Carter’s team asked for her identity.
The dismissal comes after Combs faces over 40 sexual assault lawsuits, including charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He has denied any wrongdoing, stating he’s never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone.
