Diddy’s Lawyer Argues ‘Swinger Lifestyle’ Not a Crime Ahead of Trial

Sean Combs, aka Diddy, is set to go on trial in New York for sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges. His lawyers argue that he led the “lifestyle” of a “swinger,” which they claim is not a crime. The defence team suggests that having multiple sex partners is common and accepted. However, prosecutors argue that Combs allegedly coerced his victims into performing sexual acts, forcing them to undergo medical procedures as part of a larger racketeering scheme.

Combs has rejected a plea deal offered by federal prosecutors. His trial is expected to last up to ten weeks and will be open to the public, but not livestreamed. The trial is scheduled to begin with jury selection on May 5th, and opening statements are set to start on May 12th.

The court heard that Combs’ lawyers can cite his “lifestyle” in their defence arguments, but cannot reference other prominent swingers or alleged sex workers. Prosecutors will show the video of Combs physically attacking his former partner, Cassie Ventura, at a hotel in 2016. However, Combs’ lawyers claim the footage is deceptive and have sought to block it from being admitted as evidence.

A medical procedure allegedly performed by one of Combs’ alleged victims is also set to be discussed during the trial. Prosecutors are seeking permission to show the jury footage from a sexual encounter involving Combs. They argue that this footage is “extremely sensitive” and should not be shown to the public.
