Sean “Diddy” Combs is on trial accused of sex trafficking and racketeering. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, has made comments suggesting that Combs’ alleged behavior with ex-girlfriend Casandara “Cassie” Ventura Fine was comparable to couples enjoying a drink together. However, the prosecution argues that this comparison downplays the severity of the situation.
During closing arguments on Friday, June 27, Agnifilo said instances where Combs and Ventura Fine argued about participating in “freak offs” were similar to disagreements over going to the beach or drinking lemonade. He stated that as a couple, their preferences become one.
Ventura Fine testified through tears about losing agency and autonomy from these “freak offs,” which lasted days at times. The prosecution claims Combs orchestrated commercial sex acts with illicit substances involved. Combs’ defense team argues that the three women at the center of the case were willing participants in consensual sex acts.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. His lawyers suggest he and Ventura Fine had a “swingers” lifestyle, engaging in nonmonogamous intimate acts. However, prosecutors argue this minimizes the severity of Combs’ alleged behavior.
The jury will return on Monday, June 30, for instructions before deliberations.
