Sean “Diddy” Combs will have to wait until October 3 for his sentencing date, despite a previously set trial conclusion. The hip-hop mogul was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and faces up to 20 years in prison. His actual sentence is likely to be between 15 months and five years, considering federal guidelines that take into account his criminal history.
Combs maintained his innocence during the trial, which featured sensational testimony from 34 witnesses about his alleged sex-marathons with escorts. However, he was acquitted of the top three charges in the case: two sex-trafficking counts and one racketeering count. The judge previously denied Combs’ bid to be released on bail due to concerns about his violent temper.
The Bad Boy Records founder has been behind bars since his September arrest. His lawyers coordinated with prosecutors and the federal Probation Office to set a new sentencing date, which is three months after his conviction.
