The government is expected to conclude its case against Sean “Diddy” Combs on Monday, after more than six weeks of testimony from multiple witnesses. The trial began on May 5 and has seen several key witnesses take the stand, including Diddy’s former assistant, Brendan Paul.
Paul testified about his time working for Combs and alleged that employees at Bad Boy Records moved like “Seal Team 6” to carry out tasks. He also discussed text messages exchanged between Combs’ ex-girlfriends, including Cassie Ventura and Jane, which allegedly revealed details of a sex trafficking ring.
Former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani expressed concerns about the prosecution’s handling of key witnesses, including Gina, who was listed as Victim 3 in the indictment but did not testify. Rahmani questioned why Diddy’s chief of staff, Kristina “KK” Khorram, wasn’t called to testify and suggested that her immunity deal may have been a missed opportunity for the government.
Rahmani also highlighted questions about the psychology of abuse and consent, which the prosecution had sought to explain with expert testimony. However, Becker from R. Kelly’s defense team noted that it is difficult for jurors to separate emotions from charges and that the case involves complex issues that may be emotionally challenging for jurors.
The trial’s outcome remains uncertain, but experts say that jurors will face a difficult decision in separating facts from emotional responses to the allegations made against Combs.
