Diddy’s Sex Trafficking Trial Set to Begin Next Month

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial for sex trafficking and other crimes is set to begin next month, despite efforts by his defense team to delay the proceedings. A federal judge has rejected a motion by Combs’ lawyers to push back the trial by 60 days.

The trial, which will feature footage from a Warner Bros. Discovery docuseries about Combs, is penciled in for May 12. Prosecutors allege that Combs and his aides coerced women and men into marathon sordid sexual encounters called “freak-offs,” including male and female prostitutes, drug use, threats of violence and imprisonment.

Combs has failed three times to be released on a $50 million bail package since his arrest last fall. He is currently housed in one of the nicer units of Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center as inmate 37452-054.

The defense team, led by Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, had argued that the prosecution was slow to hand over evidence and lacked possession of certain evidence from a key witness, Victim-4. However, Judge Arun Subramanian rejected this argument, saying that the prosecution would provide the necessary evidence.

Combs is also facing dozens of civil actions claiming assault and abuse similar to the sex trafficking claims. He has entered not guilty pleas to all of them, with several since dismissed or having died on the legal vine.

A new lawyer, Brian Steel, has joined Combs’ defense team, following Anthony Ricco’s departure earlier this year. The trial is expected to be a significant test for Combs, who has proclaimed that he has done no wrong and that the allegations against him are “racist” and “police non-conforming sexual activity.”
