Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial took a dramatic turn in its third week, with key moments that shed light on his alleged abuse of power and control over ex-employees.
Capricorn Clark, a former personal assistant to Combs, testified that she witnessed him physically assault his longtime girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, in 2011. Clark described the incident, saying her “heart was breaking from seeing her get hit like that,” but claimed she feared retaliation if she reported the abuse to law enforcement.
Clark also recounted her own harrowing experiences with Combs, including being kidnapped at gunpoint and forced to stay in his SUV while he broke into a rival rapper’s home. She testified that these incidents were all part of a pattern of behavior by Combs that made her feel trapped and powerless.
Meanwhile, Cassie delivered her third child just days after testifying for four days as the prosecution’s prize witness, and a stylist who worked with Combs took the stand to offer humorous and insightful testimony about his boss’s behavior. Celebrity stylist Deonte Nash described Combs’ alleged slurs against women, including calling one particular term “his fave.”
The trial also heard from a second woman, known as “Mia,” who alleges that Combs raped her during an eight-year tenure working for the rapper. Mia said she put on a brave face to continue working for Combs due to shame and fear of retaliation.
As prosecutors presented their case, they acknowledged that they might be ahead of schedule, but Combs’ lawyer Marc Agnifilo hinted that the defense’s presentation could take longer than expected. With this development, the trial may now stretch into July.
