Ry Williams, known as the “Dinosaur Erection Specialist,” has created an unorthodox but thought-provoking dinosaur mount at Dino Lab in British Columbia, Canada. The exhibit features a Tyrannosaurus rex and a Triceratops sitting down together over tea.
Williams’ latest work, titled “Bygones,” takes more than three years to complete. He mounted two partial dinosaur skeletons in unconventional poses that have them sitting with their heads 24 feet in the air. The finished mounts are within the range of how dinosaurs could actually move, according to Williams.
The exhibit combines real fossils and sculpted replicas, with some actual fossil elements incorporated into the Triceratops skull. Williams welded steel armatures for the skeletons and added dinosaur-sized furniture, including a 12-foot-tall table covered in rose motifs as a homage to his late family member.
Williams’ previous work has been seen worldwide, but “Bygones” stands out as one of his crowning achievements. The exhibit has attracted considerable attention and evoked strong emotions from viewers, with some people crying after seeing it.
The Dinosaur Erection Specialist plans to mount more skeletons in scientifically accurate stances, but is open to creating more artistic pieces like “Bygones.” He hopes the exhibit will give people new perspectives on what prehistoric dinosaurs can represent in the modern world.
