Dinosaur Footprints Reveal Ancient Ecosystem

A team of researchers from the University of Edinburgh has uncovered a unique discovery on the Isle of Skye – 131 dinosaur footprints that reveal the coexistence of herbivores and carnivores at freshwater lagoons 167 million years ago. The site, Prince Charles’s Point, provides a fascinating insight into the environmental preferences and behaviors of dinosaurs from the Middle Jurassic period. The tracks show that regardless of dominance, meat-eating theropods and plant-eating sauropods habitually spent time in lagoons. This groundbreaking research, funded by the Leverhulme Trust and National Geographic Society, is a significant contribution to our understanding of prehistoric ecosystems and has shed new light on the lives of these ancient creatures.
