Diontae Johnson Waived by Texans Amidst Discontent

The Houston Texans have waived wide receiver Diontae Johnson, a move that seems only fitting given his recent behavior. Johnson was traded to the Texans last offseason after being released by the Baltimore Ravens due to his refusal to enter games over lack of playing time.

Since joining the Texans, Johnson has had limited playing time, including a significant role in their playoff win against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, despite being targeted once and reeling in 12 yards, Johnson was visibly upset post-game and teammates attempted to calm him down. This behavior is a recurring theme for Johnson this season.

Johnson’s antics have led to his departure from the Texans. He is now on his third NFL team of the season after previously playing for the Ravens and being suspended by the team before joining Houston. With an opportunity to put himself in position for a big contract in free agency this offseason, Johnson has instead become “radioactive” and will likely face stiff competition from other teams.

As the 2024 season approaches, it is clear that Johnson’s selfishness and downward spiral have reached a boiling point. His behavior has made him an unlikely candidate to secure a spot on any team’s roster in free agency.
