Disable Apple Intelligence Features on Your iPhone

As AI technology becomes increasingly ubiquitous, Apple’s AI-powered assistant, Apple Intelligence, has also been rolled out to iPhones, iPads, and Macs. However, not everyone sees value in these features.

A recent survey found that around three-quarters of iPhone owners are unsure about the benefits of Apple Intelligence, highlighting a potential lack of understanding about the tools provided. The good news is that Apple Intelligence can be easily disabled or individualized to suit user needs.

Apple has taken steps to address concerns by making Apple Intelligence opt-in and allowing users to disable specific features or turn it off entirely. To do so, users simply need to go through their iPhone’s Settings app, selecting “Apple Intelligence & Siri” from the menu. From there, they can choose which features to enable or disable.

For example, users can toggle individual features like ChatGPT, notifications, and Writing Tools/Image Creation on or off using the Settings app. Alternatively, users can turn Apple Intelligence entirely off by going through Screen Time in Settings and disabling Content & Privacy Restrictions, then selecting “Intelligence & Siri” and disabling Image Creation or Writing Tools.

While some may find these features useful, others may prefer to disable them to prevent unnecessary data usage, which can consume up to 7GB of local storage. By providing users with control over their AI-powered experience, Apple has taken a step in the right direction towards addressing concerns about data privacy and user convenience.
