Disney Combines Hulu and Disney+ into Single App in 2026

The Walt Disney Company is integrating Hulu and Disney+ into a single app, set to launch in 2026. The unified app will feature entertainment, news, sports, and more, aiming to provide a better consumer experience.

CEO Bob Iger announced the move during an earnings call, stating it would create a comprehensive package of content, including top franchises, family-friendly programming, news, and live sports. The new app is expected to improve advertising revenue potential by packaging ad sales together more efficiently.

Additionally, Disney revealed an “enhanced ESPN App” debuting August 21, which can be bundled with Disney+ and Hulu for $29.99/month. This comes as the company reports a boost in profit thanks to new streaming subscribers and strong theme park sales.

Hulu was acquired by Disney in 2019 for nearly $439 million, and subscriptions have grown to 183 million, up 2.6 million from the previous quarter.
