Disney Ditches Trigger Warnings for Classic Cartoons

Disney has dropped its trigger warnings from classic children’s cartoons like Dumbo and Peter Pan. The company is removing disclaimers that warned viewers about racist stereotypes in these films.

The decision marks a shift towards a more inclusive approach, following a broader trend among Fortune 500 companies. Disney had faced criticism from shareholders who claimed the company’s “woke” agenda was harming its business.

In response to the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020, Disney announced it would flag negative depictions in older films on its streaming platform. However, the original warnings have since been deleted.

The warning for Peter Pan, released in 1953, noted that the film’s depiction of Native Americans did not reflect their diversity or cultural traditions.
