Disney Drops Trans Storyline from Pixar Series “Win or Lose”

Disney’s first-ever long-form series from Pixar, “Win or Lose,” originally featured a transgender storyline that was cut by the company due to parental concerns about discussing certain subjects with their children. The show, set to premiere on February 11, follows a co-ed middle school softball team and explores varied perspectives through different characters. However, Disney removed references to one of the characters’ gender identity from the series.

The decision has sparked controversy among some who argue that Disney is catering to “mentally ill” individuals. Some have expressed disappointment with the change, while others welcome it as a step towards common sense and family-friendly entertainment.

“Win or Lose” was written, directed, and executive produced by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, and features Will Forte leading the voice cast as the coach. The series will follow each episode’s unique character perspective, including “the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, even a lovesick umpire.” Despite the controversy surrounding its removal of a transgender storyline, the show is intended to focus on varied perspectives that appeal to different audiences.

In contrast to some comments expressing outrage over the change, others see it as a welcome return to common sense and family-friendly entertainment.
