The Walt Disney Company has quietly removed its “Reimagine Tomorrow” initiative, a diversity and inclusion program launched in 2021, from its recent corporate filings.
The initiative aimed to showcase stories and talent from underrepresented communities and increase diversity among scripted characters and content creators. However, it faced backlash from conservative group America First Legal (AFL), which filed a federal civil rights complaint alleging that Disney’s diversity efforts were discriminatory towards certain groups.
Although the exact reason for the removal is unclear, Disney has added new sections to its filing promoting its commitment to hiring and supporting U.S. military veterans through the “Heroes Work Here” program. A new website page also highlights Disney’s efforts in creating a diverse workforce with an inclusive company culture.
Disney representatives declined to comment on the changes, according to NPR.
