Disney star Christy Carlson Romano shared a harrowing video on Instagram after being shot in the face while shooting clay pigeons with her husband, Brendan Rooney, for his birthday. The 40-year-old actress revealed she was hit by five bullets, one of which lodged behind her right eye and is too risky to remove surgically at this time.
Romano explained that she initially thought it was just a graze but soon realized the extent of her injuries. She praised her husband’s quick thinking in getting her medical attention immediately after being shot. Romano expressed gratitude for the care she received at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, saying she is “very grateful to be alive.”
The couple, who share two daughters, has been married since 2013. In a heartfelt comment on his wife’s Instagram post, Brendan Rooney called her “the bravest, toughest, most stoic and badass woman” he has ever met.
