The 2025 film “Predator: Badlands” marked a significant turning point for the franchise, earning $184 million worldwide and surpassing any previous Predator movie at the box office. With a budget of $105 million, it opened with a record-breaking $40 million weekend, making it the highest-grossing Predator film to date.
The movie’s success was also evident in its PVOD debut as the most-watched title. “Predator: Badlands” features a Yautja, one of the series’ most iconic species, as the protagonist, setting a new direction for the franchise.
Critics praised the film, with an 86% “Certified Fresh” approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Although not the highest in the franchise’s history, it is still a strong critical consensus.
Director Dan Trachtenberg addressed concerns about his involvement with Paramount, reaffirming his commitment to the franchise’s future. He hinted at the potential for new installments, exploring different characters and settings within the series.
“Predator: Badlands” is now available on Hulu, streaming along with its animated counterpart “Killer of Killers.”
