DJI, the drone manufacturer, has skipped the United States for the first time with a non-drone product – its 8K Osmo 360 camera. The company confirmed to The Verge that it will not sell the camera in the US officially but has partnered with retailers B&H and Adorama to offer pre-orders.
These retailers are already taking orders for both the $549.99 camera and its $699.99 “Adventure Combo” along with a range of accessories. DJI’s Osmo 360 does have a page on its US website, but it’s unclear if it will ever be officially stocked there.
DJI’s decision not to launch the Osmo 360 in the US is due to multiple reasons that the company has not disclosed. A spokesperson stated that they do not have a timeline for potential updates. The Mavic 4 Pro drone, which also skipped the US market, is currently listed as “temporarily on backorder” or “out of stock” at retailers Adorama and B&H, but an expected shipment in September.
