A California doctor, Dr Salvador Plasencia, has agreed to plead guilty to supplying ketamine to actor Matthew Perry in the weeks leading up to his overdose death. The plea carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
Dr Plasencia allegedly sold Perry twenty 5ml vials of ketamine, less than a full package, and taught his assistant how to administer the drug. Perry was taking legal amounts of ketamine to treat depression but wanted more.
The case involves an alleged underground network of dealers and medical professionals who supplied Perry with ketamine. Dr Plasencia’s plea deal states that he sold the ketamine between September 30th and October 12th, 2023.
As part of the plea agreement, Dr Plasencia will face four counts of distributing ketamine. His expected guilty plea is set to occur in the coming weeks, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation into Perry’s death.
